Facts

Sealants: These tooth coverings are placed on adult molars soon after they have erupted (around 6 yrs and 12 yrs of age) to help avoid cavity formation.
Crowns:These metal restorations are used when there is less than 50% of tooth structure remaining (after a cavity has been removed). This type of procedure will help dissipate the forces of chewing and clenching, thus avoiding a fractured tooth. (These crowns are mainly used for baby teeth)
Trauma:When a baby tooth has fallen out due to a traumatic incident IT SHOULD NOT BE PLACED BACK IN THE SOCKET, as it could cause damage to the forming adult tooth. An adult tooth that falls out due to trauma should be gently handled and either placed back in the socket or placed in a milk solution, and call your dentist. The quicker you're seen by the dentist, the better!
Fractured teeth:If the crown of the tooth cracks or breaks off save the piece in a moist cloth or paper towel. Sometimes the piece can be bonded back onto the tooth. If you see a pink or red area in the center of the fracture site contact your dentist quickly.
White -vs- Silver: There are many options of fillings that your dentist can offer. Ask your dentist what he recommends for the area in question.
Fluoride: Time and time again this has been proven 100% safe. There are many folks in the communities around you that are convinced that this is a poison. The proof is in the pudding... towns with a fluoridated water system have considerably less decay than towns without! Ask your dentist about this, and be careful when reading the articles in the typical waiting room magazine.
